Cosmo Blog Awards (I Won!!)

Wow, I am really pleased and excited that I am now an award winning blogger! On Thursday evening I went to the Cosmopolitan Blog Awards, as a proud shortlisted blogger. Just to be at the event was an honour, but actually winning the Best New Beauty Blog was just amazing! I really can’t believe how far my blog has got this past year and I have enjoyed every minute of it!

Firstly on to my nails for the evening. I decided to wear a black and gold dress, so my nails were black and gold themed to match. I did a mix of my favourite designs and some new designs, with a different pattern on each nail.

Here is me in my dress for the evening

And my full set of nails:

On my left hand, I started on the thumb with some roses. The index finger is just a random design, I’m not sure where the inspiration came from! My middle finger I took from this aztec-ish design I did previously. For the accent nail I used my hand made studs (as in this post) painted gold and sealed with lots of top coat. I was worried they wouldn’t last, but they actually stuck on really well and because they are hand made, they weren’t sharp at all. Finally I did a web/lace pattern on my pinky.

On my right hand I did a flowery lace design on my thumb nail. The index nail pattern is randomly based on a pattern I saw on this cut lace tray from Urban Outfitters! The middle finger is based on lace and flower detailed skulls I have seen…but I couldn’t quite get the detail, so its a dotted skull! Actually I have just noticed now it looks like C3PO from Star Wars…oh dear! Next the accent nail is a mix of square gold studs and black rhinestones. I really love that nail and will probably do a full design based on it. Finally the pinky is a black and gold lace, like the design I did on this post.

The whole design turned out great and complimented my dress perfectly! I also loved showing them off to everyone at the award show!!After I did my nails and got all dressed up I was ready to go to the party! The awards were at Rose, a club in Central London. As you walked in you were welcomed by a sea of Cosmopolitan goodie bags, all very exciting! Once I was done staring at the goodie bags I headed down the stairs into the club. The place filled up quite quickly and there were about 200 bloggers all looking amazing and dolled up for the evening. There were lovely complimentary cocktails and lots of mingling for an hour or so. I met lots of lovely bloggers from all categories; food, fashion, DIY, lifestyle. I have spent some time catching up and looking at blogs of all the girls I met on the night, they are all so stunning I don’t know how the judges managed to chose which they liked the best! A few recommendations of some lovely blogs to check out: A great blog with lots of DIY and fun stuff - Trends With Benefits, a beautiful all round blog with some gorgeous fashion - Florence Finds and 3 mouth-watering food blogs - Poires Au Chocolat (who won in her category), M Bakes and Victoria Sponge Pease Pudding. I also want to mention the other nail blogger in my category Nailed It, her designs are so great so if you dont already know her blog go and check it out now!!

Me, looking like a celeb…yeah?…no?…

After an hour or so of meeting bloggers, Pat McNulty and Louise Court from Cosmopolitan began the ceremony and started announcing winners. When it got to my category I was so nervous, I wanted to win, but I had convinced myself I wasn’t going to. The competition was just too strong!

I was so surprised when the called my blog, but now I have let it sink in, I am just so excited and honoured to have won such a notable award. The prize is a beautiful framed picture, by the French illustrator and designer Coco, and is already up on my wall in prime position! Here is a list of all the winners and highly commended blogs, there are so many amazing and different blogs to have a look at!

Overall, what a night! Cosmopolitan and Next really put on a great party, there was a place to get your nails, eyelashes and makeup done. Also, plenty of shiny new products in those amazing goodie bags: sparkly socks, fake tan, makeup, face creams, hair mousse… everything really!

I just want to say a massive thank you to everyone who nominated, voted for me, and even just followed my blog over the past year, it’s thanks to you I got this far and I am really looking forward to so many more exciting things over the year ahead!!

I’m beyond thrilled that your talent was recognized for what it is…truly amazing! Seeing your nails for the night, and the fact that such beautiful designs were done on both hands proves that you deserved that award more than anyone nominated! I’m completely honored to be mentioned on such a big name blog now!
