First of all I would like to say thanks to everyone who entered my latest giveaway. The winner has been chosen and their prize sent off. I will definitely be sure to have another giveaway soon, I really like to be able to give something back as a small thank you for supporting me!
Now on to todays nails! I got sent two lovely polishes from Rococo, a nail brand sold in Space NK. The polishes came in these really lovely boxes which became the inspiration for the nail design I decided to do. The polishes I received were No Shrinking Violet and Gold Leaf Laquer.
Below is a swatch of No Shrinking Violet. It is a really beautiful purple shade which looked so shiny with two coats and a top coat. It was easy to apply and is nicely thick and pigmented. In fact its so shiny you can almost see my reflection in the nails!!
With the purple base I added the gold leaf lacquer over the nails, leaving the accent nail and thumb for a design. The gold leaf polish wasn't that easy to apply. I found it quite difficult to get the gold leaf bits to stick to the brush, but eventually I got a nice coverage of the gold on to my nails. I added a couple of layers of top coat to smooth out the slightly uneven feel.
After adding the gold leaf I painted a design based on the pattern seen on the presentation boxes. I used gold acrylic paint to create the flower design on my ring finer and thumb.
Overall these polishes were great to use (the purple more so than the gold leaf). They look great in the boxes and would make a lovely gift for a friend (or yourself!!). They have a wide range of colours and some nail treatments too. The polishes are £12 (or $16.50 if you use the US site), but I noticed there are a few on sale for £4 (bargain!!) here.
